SYMPTOM(s):
4GL/ABL: Error (5049) starting a new Progress Session from the DOS command prompt (cmd.exe) command line
The <ARG> parameter has too many digits. (5049)
The -n parameter has too many digits. (5049)
When the command: prowin32.exe ?db sports2000 ?N Localhost ?N TCP ?S 12345 is executed from the DOS command prompt (cmd.exe) screen, the error occurs
Issue occurs on specific machine and not all machines
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows XP
Progress 9.1E
When the ?db, ?H, ?N and ?S parameters are moved to the DLC\startup.pf the command: prowin32.exe executes without error
CAUSE:
The exact cause has not been conclusively determined. Possible causes include virus software, keyboard setting, bad installation or some DLL overwriting
FIX:
Move the ?db, ?H, ?N and ?S startup parameters to the DLC\startup.pf and execute the command: prowin32.exe from the DOS command prompt (cmd.exe) command line as desired
