GOAL:
What is the recommended selection for the Windows Advanced Performance Memory Usage.
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
Windows
FIX:
The setting on a Database Server would be set to:
Processor Scheduling - Background
Memory cache should be set to Programs as we control our own cache (-B database buffers).
A user would set it differently depending on how they ran their sessions.
Running their session in the Foreground:
Processor Scheduling as Programs
Memory Caching as Programs
Running their session in the Background:
Processor Scheduling as Background
Memory Cashing as Programs
However, this should be tested in an environment with all programs and process that will be running with Progress to see the effect this has on all applications and the over all system performance and adjusted for the desired effects.
