idxfix on large index taking very long time
idxfix stuck at sorting and index building group 1 for many hours
Using option 3 of idxfix utility
FACT(s) (Environment):
All Supported Operating Systems
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
CAUSE:
Idxfix is running through a sorting routine on a RAID 5 drive.
FIX:
Do not use RAID 5. When running the idxfix, if possible, supply the -T parameter to specify a non-RAID 5 drive for the sort files.
