SYMPTOM(s):
Errors 704 and 1451 connecting to remote Oracle Dataserver broker
** There is no server active for database on -H -S . (704)
Failed to connect to ORACLE database . (1451)
Connection works with port number
Connection fails with service name
Telnet to remote machine works with port number
Telnet to remote machine fails with service name
Moving the service name on the client to the top of the services file works
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows
OpenEdge 10.2B
CAUSE:
The services file on the client has a duplicate entry for the service name being used for the broker port.
FIX:
Remove or comment out the duplicate service name on the client.
