GOAL:
Can I use a 32 Bit Progress OpenEdge Driver with a Linked Server in 64 bit version of Microsoft SQL Server 2008?
GOAL:
Can I use a 32 Bit Progress OpenEdge Driver with a Linked Server in 64 bit version of Microsoft SQL Server 2005?
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows
OpenEdge 10.x
FIX:
Not directly. The client bit version (in this case MS SQL Server) must match the ODBC driver bit version.
Possible solutions to this problem are to:
a) Upgrade OpenEdge to 10.2x or higher and then obtain and install the 64-bit ODBC driver for OpenEdge.
OR
b) Use DataDirect SequeLink solution as a bridge between the two. SequeLink is a product that would need to be purchased separately and can be obtained by discussing with your Progress Account Manager.
