Performance problem noticed and promon shows AI buffer writes decreasing and AI Buffer waits increasing.
Enterprise Database license installed.
AIW started when database started.
FACT(s) (Environment):
All Supported Operating Systems
Progress/OpenEdge Product Family
CHANGE:
AIW process was stopped unintentionally.
CAUSE:
When the AIW (After Image Writer) process is not running all other processes must perform the writes to the AI files which could slow performance.
FIX:
Restart the AIW process. Only one AIW can run against the database at any given time but can be started or restarted at any point after the database has been served.
