*NOTE: This is listed in the System Admin Reference (Sect 2.4.5) as an obsolete parameter.
-CRC when is this applicable for client startup
Usually we tell customers that the -CRC option is a client startup
parameter. This is good, but not good enough. The -CRC option is more
specifically a SESSION startup parameter. This means that it is
not a DATABASE CONNECTION parameter.
The -CRC option is only applicable when a client initially starts
their Progress session. It is then an attribute for that entire
session regardless of what databases are connect.
Therefore, you can not start a Progress session and then get into
the Dictionary and try connecting to a database with the -CRC option.
The database will still connect, but you will get a warning that
the -CRC is not a database option.
The -CRC can also be put into the parameter file. This will work
fine at the client startup. On the other hand, if you are already
running Progress and then you try to connect to a database and you
specify the same parameter file, the -CRC option will again be
ignored and you will get the warning message, but the database will
be connected.
