GOAL:

Can we install on Windows 7 without getting the JVM popup screen.

GOAL:

Can Progress be installed on Windows 7 and/or Windows 2008 without the JVM message popup screen?

FACT(s) (Environment):

Windows 7
Windows Server 2008
OpenEdge 10.1C
OpenEdge 10.2x

FIX:

It appears that the only thing that depends on msjavx86.exe is the progress explorer. If msjavx86.exe is renamed under the install file's 3party directory prior to the install, the popup JVM messages do not appear. The msjavx86.exe will not be installed into the %DLC%\bin\3party directory.
This has not been fully tested. If this work around is used, any issues that happen in which the cause cannot be easily determined, you may be requested to run the msjavexe.exe executable found in the install files on that machine and reproduce the issue. It may still be required to reproduce the issue on a non-modified install.

Progress Explorer is to be removed in the next release, 11.0. That will include the removal of the msjavx86.exe file.
