Several Progress errors associated whit 'tcp protocol problem' or 'not

Step by step details:

NIS ( Network Information Services ) was before known as Yellow Pages,
the associated protocol was also known as the YP protocol.

NIS is a distributed system: it operates with several servers on
different computers in the network. One of the server is designated
'master server'; the slave server are always the last version by the
master server.

NIS map contain data records and index key.

Available files:

/etc/passwd
/etc/group
/etc/hosts
/etc/ethers
/etc
etworks
/etc/rpc
/etc/services
/etc/protocols
/etc
etgroup

When you work in a NIS scenario, make be sure that you pointing to the
true file. Example: /etc/service; use 'ypcat' command; otherwise, if
you uses a 'cat' command you can be addressed to a slave machine and
the service name that you search does not exist or exist with a
different port number.
