The PSC Consultant will show you how to maximize the throughput and efficiency of your system and streamline the administration of your PROGRESS clients with the additional tunable features related to the specific version your are on.
Audience
Customers with single or multi-processor systems who are either installing for the first time or are migrating to a higher version of
PROGRESS and wish to make use of enhanced performance features present in the version they are using.
Overview
A PSC Consultant will help you measure your current resource utilization including CPU, I/O, network and PROGRESS Client and Server stats and identify where your version will help provide improved throughput. All monitoring will be executed in cycles with detailed attention to key tunable PROGRESS and operating system parameters to establish a history of the improvements.
Effective PSC Consulting methodologies and documentation worksheets will be used to support the recording of system parameters, the monitoring of system performance and documenting the conclusions and recommendations to be implemented. Special effort is made to ensure that your staff is included in the process and fully capable of managing future growth at your installation.
The following topics are covered:
1) Review Tunable Parameters and new options and features added to the PROMON utillity to monitor those options.
2) Establish specific performance objectives and prepare performance objective worksheets.
3) Tune the PROGRESS server, before-image, after-image, client and network operations and the parameters used to control them.
4) Examine the effective use of PROGRESS multi-volume structures.
After analysis has been performed, recommendations will be discussed with you and your staff. Appropriate changes will be tested and implemented. A formal report of findings and recommendations is produced for your reference and management review.
This service can be provided remotely, on site, or a combination of the two and involves a minimum three-day time allotment.
