10.2B ODBC connection from Windows 7 to Windows 2008 is slow
No errors occur.
Firewall ports are open
Telnet is slow from the Windows 7 client to the 10.2B database port
FACT(s) (Environment):

Windows Server 2008
CAUSE:
The hosts file on the Windows 7 client has no entry for the Windows 2008 machine.
FIX:
Add an entry in the C:\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file for the Windows 2008 machine:
For example:
172.50.10.10 my-hostname
