SYMPTOM(s):
Cannot install 10.1B client networking on Windows XP SP3 machine.
Installation begins and some directories are created.
Some registry entries are added for OpenEdge but not all of them are added.
Installation just silently disappears/terminates.
FACT(s) (Environment):
Installing as local Administrator account.
Installing in Safe Mode
Anti-Virus software has been disabled.
No errors from the installation utility.
Installing OpenEdge from a CD-ROM
Windows XP
OpenEdge 10.1B
CAUSE:
Event Viewer log file showing read block errors from CD-ROM device.
FIX:
If there is another CD-ROM with the OpenEdge installation on it, then use that one.
or
Download the software from ESD (Electronic Software Distribution) site.
Then install using that file instead of the CD-ROM.
