SYMPTOM(s):
Installation of 10.2x fails immediately at the start of copying of files setup.exe
Unable to applying Service Pack to this terminated installation.
No errors are displayed to the screen
No errors in the event viewer
The oesetup.log completed event 1 successfully, but nothing is logged after that.
Microsoft Process monitor captured an exit code of -2147213312 for the InstallShield process.
FACT(s) (Environment):
The Administrator has not requested the installation be aborted.

CAUSE:
Decoding the exit code -2147213312 indicates error 0x80042000 from InstallShield - which says: The installation exited with the abort keyword because the end user canceled the installation.
In this case, that is not correct. However, it was found there was a third party backup touching the installation files during the installation process causing the install to abort.
FIX:
To insure a successful install:
1. Stop all backup processes that might try to backup files in the Progress directory.
2. Uninstall the recently failed OpenEdge installation.
3. After the un-install has completed, check that the DLC directory was removed.
4. Check the registry and make sure all entries for this Release have been removed.
5. Install OpenEdge.
6. Install any applicable Service Packs, if desired.
7. Restart all backup processes that were stopped.
