GOAL:
Why are Service Packs for Windows larger than Service Packs for most Unix Platforms?
GOAL:
Why is the Service Pack on Windows bigger than on Unix?
FACT(s) (Environment):
All Supported Operating Systems
Progress/OpenEdge Product Family
FIX:
The Windows Service Pack for OpenEdge contains fixes for more products than Service Packs for Unix.
The Windows version of OpenEdge has several products that do not exist on the same version of OpenEdge for Unix such as:
OpenEdge Architect
OpenEdge Studio
The Windows version of OpenEdge has code for GUI and Character environments as opposed to the Unix version which only has Character code.
The Service Packs on Windows will almost always be larger than any comparable Service Pack on a Unix platform.
