Status: Unverified
SYMPTOM(s):
NameServer process disappears
No errors in NameServer log file
No errors in AdminServer log file.
Unable to ping localhost
Able to ping other hosts on the network
Unable to restart NameServer after process disappears.
FACT(s) (Environment):
UNIX
OpenEdge 10.2x
OpenEdge 10.1x
ubconfig
sconfig show no corruption
Unable to start NS1 after replacing ubroker.properties with Template.
CAUSE:
Network issue. In this particular case, a machine with the name of localhost was turned on dynamically. Also, the order of precedence was not properly set in the /etc
etsvc.conf file. The local machine, therefor, was looking to DNS for all host look ups and bypassing it's own host file.
FIX:
Address the network issue to make sure the local machine is able to ping localhost and that it returns the proper loopback address.
