Status: Unverified
SYMPTOM(s):
Installing OpenEdge 10.1B on Windows 2003 R2 64 bit without selecting Installation Mode and install aborts without giving any error message.
Installation of Service Pack 10.1B03 failed also with no error.
Windows XP 64-bit
Windows 2003 SP1
Windows 2003 R2
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows x64
OpenEdge 10.1B
CAUSE:
Installation Mode had not been chosen for the Windows Server. Other users were logging into the server causing problems while doing the installation.
In Installation Mode the system acts like a Windows NT Server, in most ways. The system expects that you are installing a device or an application for global access.
To install a device using Installation mode, open a command prompt and enter the command, CHANGE USER /INSTALL. Then install your device. Return to the command prompt after installation, and enter CHANGE USER /EXECUTE.
FIX:
Select Installation Mode and then install OpenEdge.
