Backup doesn't always fail
SYSTEM ERROR: write to /dir/filename.pipe failed, errno = 32 (1049)
UNIX errno=32 is defined as:

CAUSE:
The file size of one of the backup files has hit the 2Gb limit.
FIX:
Provide an additional volume name to the backup script so that it can span multiple volumes.
