SYMPTOM(s):
OpenEdge memory usage increase after migrating from HP-UX 11.11 to HP-UX 11.23
The same executables from the same version of OpenEdge use more memory when running on HP-UX 11.23 than they do when running on HP-UX 11.11.
Looking at system wide Memory Utilization in HP-UX's glance utility is showing higher utilization in HP-UX 11.23, compared to what is observed when running HP-UX 11.11.
Choosing the memory report option in HP-UX's glance utility shows that OpenEdge executables use more Text, Data and Other memory in HP-UX 11.23 than they do in HP-UX 11.11.
FACT(s) (Environment):
HP-UX 11.11
HP-UX 11i v2
OpenEdge 10.1C04 Service Pack
CAUSE:
The never version of the operating system (11.23) will result in executables having a slightly larger memory footprint due to the addition of new subsystems.
FIX:
According to HP-UX's AllianceOne development group, this is expected behavior due to additions, such as new subsystems, that were added into later releases of HP-UX.
