OpenEdge 10.2x

Progress/OpenEdge Product Family

FIX:

WINDOWS:

It is only from OpenEdge 10.2A that a 64-bit OpenEdge product for Windows 64 bit using Intel EM64T chips or Intel AMD 64-bit series was first provided as a 'limited release'.
Prior to OpenEdge 10.2A there is only a 32-bit OpenEdge Progress version of the product, that is supported and certified to run on the 64-bit version of the Windows operating system but it has no native support for the 64-bit features.
The content below applies only to Progress OpenEdge 64-bit Windows licenses. For 32-bit Progress OpenEdge product support on Windows, please refer to Progress Solution P34824
This Windows release is a "Server Only" Win64 implementation which provides access to more than 2 Gigabytes of memory for OpenEdge servers:

- OpenEdge RDBMS
- Webspeed
- AppServer
- OE Development Server (for Character and batch clients)
- 4GL Development System (for Character and batch clients)

The Server edition also includes the .NET OpenClient interface DLL's as native 64-bit programs, enabling the use of the Open Client interface to develop 64-bit applications. This implementation does not include Win64 GUI client support. Customers wishing to use this server-only product would need to connect to the database or AppServer/WebSpeed via a remote machine. please refer to Progress Solution P130606

The following 64-bit Progress OpenEdge versions are certified on Intel EM64T chips and AMD 64-bit based versions of:

64-bit Windows Server 2003 R2

OpenEdge 10.2A + Service Pack 01 or later (limited ship)
OpenEdge 10.2B or later

64-bit Windows Server 2008 R1

OpenEdge 10.2A + Service Pack 01 or later (limited ship)
OpenEdge 10.2B or later

Note The Progress Explorer is no longer ported in Windows OpenEdge 64-bit media, so it will not be available in the Start Menu. This is expected behaviour since Progress Explorer fails to start on the Windows Server 2008 platform and above. Progress Explorer will be added to the depreciated components in OpenEdge 11, so start using the OpenEdge Explorer replacement product instead. If you must run Progress Explorer you need to run it on an earlier Windows operating system like XP, Vista or 2003. Please refer to Solution P129948

64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2

OpenEdge 10.2B or later

64-bit Windows Server 7

OpenEdge 10.2B or later

LINUX:

OpenEdge 10.1x or later are supported on Linux 64-bit Intel EM64T / AMD64.

HPUX:

Since version 9.1B, Progress has introduced a full 64-bit version of of our product to run on both HP-UX 11.0 and 11.0i.
For previous releases of Progress, customers will be able to run the 32-bit products certified for HP-UX 11 on either the 64-bit or 32-bit mode of HP-UX.
