GOAL:
Do I need to dump and load an OpenEdge 10 32-bit database when migrating to OpenEdge 10.2x 64-bit on the same platform?
GOAL:
Does a dump and load have to be used to migrate a database from 32-bit to 64-bit on Windows?
FACT(s) (Environment):
OpenEdge 10.x
Windows
FIX:
No a dump and load is not needed.
1) Stop the database and truncate the bi file using the 32-bit release of OpenEdge.
2) For Releases prior to 10.1B after imaging will have to be disabled.
rfutil <dbname> -C aimage end
3) Back the database up using Progress probkup or a third party tool.
4) If after imaging was disabled it must re-enabled.
5) The database may now be started using the 64-bit instance.
NOTE: A Prorest or an OS copy of the database between different platforms is not supported by Progress even if it appears to work.
