SYMPTOM(s):

Client performance is much slower after migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7.

Queries run on the database server run with the expected performance.

Query performance is not consistent. Sometimes performance is acceptable, but many times it is not.

FACT(s) (Environment):

Windows XP
Windows 7
OpenEdge 10.2A
Antivirus Software has been disabled.
Windows 7 network Type is set to Work.
Network connection is wired, not wireless.
Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor was run and no warnings were reported.

CHANGE:

Client machines were migrated from Windows XP to Windows 7.

CAUSE:

TCP Chimney Offload settings are enabled.

FIX:

Disable the TCP Chimney Offload settings on the Windows client machines. If the database server is a Windows machine, disable the TCP Chimney Offload settings there as well.
The settings should be disabled at both the operating system level and on the network adapter.
