WTBMAN: Cannot connect to broker on port ####. ( 6309 )
WTBMAN: Cannot connect to broker on port #### ( 6309). WebSpeed 2
------------------------------------------------------------------
INTRODUCTION:
=============
You may get the following error trying to shutdown the webspeed broker
in version 2.0 or 2.1, and yet the wtbman -i <brokername> -q (query of
broker) will work.
PROGRESS ERROR NUMBER:
======================
6309
ERROR TEXT:
===========
WTBMAN: Cannot connect to broker on port ####
POSSIBLE CAUSE OF ERROR AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS:
===============================================
The problem is in the system's /etc/hosts file. We have seen this
error at least twice and both times the problem could be traced back
to a bad entry in the /etc/hosts file. For one problem the hostname
was listed twice with 2 different ip addresses in the /etc/hosts file.
For the second problem the hostname did not appear in the /etc/hosts
file at all, adding an entry for the hostname and ip address fixed the
problem.
Why does the -q (query) work? The query is the only wtbman command
that accesses the broker through shared memory. All the other options
(like the -e for shutdown) access the broker through the port number
on the host. If the wtbman cannot find the host (because of problems
in the /etc/hosts file) you get the cannot connect error.
