SYMPTOM(s):
AdminServer takes long time to start and eventually fails with the user authentication error
User root is not authorized to start Admin Server
Querying AdminServer status takes very long time
FACT(s) (Environment):
Starting AdminServer works (although with long time required to complete) using:
proadsv -start -user root
UNIX
Progress 9.1x
OpenEdge 10.x
CAUSE:
Host name resolution problems caused by DNS server issues
FIX:
Fix the issue with the DNS server, or in case of multiple DNS servers, configure the operating system to use the one which is most responsive.
