Status: Unverified
SYMPTOM(s):
The application experiences periods of very slow performance.
After a period of time, performance returns to normal.
perfmon statistics show increases in CPU activity, memory, disk queue length and paging.
promon data shows little activity in the database during the times of poor performance.
Memory leaks have been identified in several AppServer processes. These processes are using many times more memory than expected.
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows Server 2003
OpenEdge 10.1B
CHANGE:
Application changes were made prior to the first occurrence of this performance problem.
CAUSE:
Due to the memory leak in the AppServer processes, available memory on the system decreased to a point where the system started to page heavily.
FIX:
Fix the application programs run by the AppServer so that no memory leaking occurs.
