GOAL:
Can an offline database backed up with 10.1 be restored with 10.2 of OpenEdge?
GOAL:
Can a 10.1A backup be restored with 10.1C?
GOAL:
Why can a database backup completed with 10.1A be partially verified with 10.1A but not with 10.2A?
FACT(s) (Environment):
All Supported Operating Systems
OpenEdge 10.x
OpenEdge 10.1x
OpenEdge 10.2x
FIX:
No. The version of OpenEdge being used to restore a database needs to be the same as the version of OpenEdge used to take the backup. Although we have seen this work in some cases, it is not supported.
For more Important Rules for restoring backups, please see The OpenEdge Data Management: Database Administration Guide in the section titled Restoring a database.
