GOAL:
Where are the Progress / OpenEdge error messages stored?
GOAL:
Are the Progress / OpenEdge error messages available in a format more readable than that of the DLC\promsgs file?
FACT(s) (Environment):
All Supported Operating Systems
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
FIX:
The Progress/OpenEdge error messages are stored in the directory DLC/Prohelp/Msgdata. These messages are stored in ascending order in files named msg1, msg2, ..., etc.
For example, in Progress 9.1E, the error messages are stored in DLC/Prohelp/Msgdata directory in files msg1 through msg250. Files msg251 through msg300 store the message "Unused message, reserved for long message" indicating that these message numbers are reserved for later use.
Similarly, in OpenEdge 10.2A, the error messages are stored in DLC/Prohelp/Msgdata directory in files msg1 through msg303. Files msg304 through msg400 store the message "Unused message, reserved for long message" indicating that these message numbers are reserved for later use.
