GOAL:
How to start a database using the default settings in the Progress Explorer?
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.x
FIX:
Verify that an AdminServer is running. The NT task Manager should show AdmSrvc.exe running.
1) Start Progress Explorer.
2) Log into the Adminserver.
- Choose Connect from the Progress Explorer file menu.
-In the Progress Explorer dialog box, enter the required information required by the Adminserver you wish to connect to.
3) Right click on the Databases folder and select add databases.
4) For Name of Database enter a name you wish to use to refer to the database. File Name is the path and actual database file name.
(C:\myfolder\working\dbname)
This database must already exist. This tool will not create a database.
5) Now there should be a folder with the database name you specified above. Select this folder. Expanding all folders below this, you should have Configurations and two Default folders. Select the last default folder and enter the Service Name or Port # you choose to use then click on Apply.
6) Leaving all other setting at the default you should be able to go back to the database name folder and select Start Config to start the database. The status folder should display Running if the database started successfully.
