SYMPTOM(s):
Activating indexes online hangs
Activating the indexes offline is not a problem
promon shows very high record reads during idxactivate
promon shows no writes during idxactivate
_tablestats show no read activity to the table.
Adding a new column and then an index on the column
The column is empty and is not populated before adding the index
Table has around 3.5 million records and the record size is small so overall this is considered a small - medium table.
