SYMPTOM(s):
Loading data to Oracle is more than 10 times slower using OE 10.2A
Using 10.2A, loading large table takes 3 hours
FACT(s) (Environment):
Using 9.1D, loading the same large table takes 11 minutes
Using Oracle 8
Update statistics on Oracle does not solve the problem
The table is migrated to Oracle using Oracle DataServer migration utility
All Supported Operating Systems
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
Oracle 8.x
CAUSE:
Oracle 8 does not have good support for function based index. OE migration utility uses upper function for unique indexes, therefore the function based index performs bad against Oracle 8
FIX:
Rerun migration utility selecting "Shadow columns" option. This option retains shadow columns and does not use function based index.
