SYMPTOM(s):

OpenEdge 10 installation hangs after [FilesTailored] on Windows Server 2003

Installation fails at Event8 Per the oesetup.log:

Event8=[MM-DD-YYYY HH:MM:SS] The Setup Utility has installed system files.

Entries terminate at the end of the [FilesTailored] section with File60:

Further entries, such as [TailoringExtensions] section, are missing

Process Monitor utility reports no obvious errors

Process Monitor utility shows that the last reported actions performed by the installer process relate to clustering functionality:

_is10.exe 4740 RegCreateKey HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment SUCCESS
_is10.exe 4740 RegSetValue HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment\PSC_CLUSTER_PATH SUCCESS Type: REG_SZ, Length: 42, Data: C:\Progress\OpenEdge

FACT(s) (Environment):

Installing only OpenEdge Enterprise Database license
OpenEdge 10 media has been used successfully on another machine
Using Local Administrator account to execute setup.exe
Earlier version of Progress is installed on the server
Antivirus on-access scanning is disabled
DEP (Data Execution Prevention) settings are correct
No DLC environment variable is defined
OpenEdge 10.1x
OpenEdge 10.2A
Windows Server 2003

CAUSE:

The exact cause is unknown at the time of this writing but appears to relate to PSCLUSTER.EXE and cluster configuration

FIX:

During installation, rename DLC\bin\pscluster.exe once it is extracted to disk and before the complete extraction
