Summary:

As of February 8, 1999 the work necessary to certify Version 9.0A on
Solaris 7 (Sparc) has been completed. Additionally, with the release
of 8.3B we will be supporting Solaris 7 on both (Sparc) and (Intel)
systems. Support for 9.0A and 8.3B will be on Sun Solaris' 32bit
technology. (ONLY 32bit environments are supported for Solaris 7)

Step by step details:

With the release of Sun Solaris 7, the naming convention "2.x" has
been removed and is simply referred to as the "Solaris 7 Operating
Environment". This new Solaris version now supports both 32-bit and
64-bit hardware. Version 9.0A of Progress is the first version of
Progress to be certified to run on Solaris 7 (32-bit Hardware
architecture). When 8.3B is released, it will also be supported on
this new platform. With the release of Solaris 7 and the (64-bit
Hardware architecture) Progress has not certified its product to run
in this environment. In conclusion, as of February 8, 1999 9.0A is
certified to run on Solaris 7 32-bit and when 8.3B is released it will
also be supported on this platform.
