SYMPTOM(s):
prostrct add command appears to be hanging
prostrct add is giving errors
PROSTRCT: extraneous arguments ignored.
Command being used to add extents to the database was:
prostrct add dbname -st add.st
The output to the screen was the first line of the structure file that contained the list of extents to be added.
The structure file contains multiple extents to be added.
The Operating System is showing that the first extent was created with the correct size as specified in the structure file.
The second extent being added within the structure file is not getting added.
The command window where the prostrct add command was executed is not coming back to an Operating System prompt.
The command window where the prostrct add command was executed seems to be showing the first extent that is listed in the structure file.
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows
Progress 8.3E
CAUSE:
The structure file being used for the prostrct add command appears to have some strange characters in it as the end of line character is not being detected.
FIX:
Press the enter / return key in the command window where the prostrct add command is being initiated and is currently showing the first line of the structure file being echoed to the screen.
