GOAL:

How are patches being handled within PROGRESS 9.x & WebSpeed 3.x?

FIX:

Below are details about HOW we will be handling PROGRESS and
WebSpeed patches for Version 9. This is the first time that both
products are included in one "package". If you have any
questions, please send email to "plt-patch".

1) For any version 9.0a and/or 3.0a patches, there will be ONE piece of media made which will have both versions on the label: (Media ID: 146 Version 9.0a01/3.0a01)

2) Therefore a PROGRESS customer and a WebSpeed customer will be able to order the same patch using their respecitve versions: (a WebSpeed customer will order patch 3.0a01 and a PROGRESS customer will order patch 9.0a01)

3) The Patch Team will modify the README file that is shipped with each patch to say that the patch is for the PROGRESS Version 9.0a AND WebSpeed Version 3.0a commercial products.

4) The "version" file that is shipped with each patch will ONLY have the v9 version in it, which is how it is done for the commercial product: ("PROGRESS PATCH Version 9.0a02 as of Mon Jan 25 1999")

5) The Patch Team will modify the Online Patch listing (and the upcoming Downloadable Patch listing) to indicate the 9.0a patches AND the 3.0a patches.

6) When Technical Support requests a patch using our online patch request application, they will request either type patch using the Version 9 product. For example, if they need a WebSpeed bug fix for the IBM platform, they will request a patch to the Version 9.0a IBM/AIX platform.
