Creation Date: 2/2/99
Modified Date: 2/2/99

Version 9.0
Adminserver

Version and Release Number: Version 9.0

Summary: When trying to uninstall version 9.0
from Windows NT you will receive an error.

The error is:
" During uninstall process, the procfg.dll
cannot be removed because it is in use or you
will see a "unable to remove file or directory
it is in use" .
At this point the uninstall stops.

Step by step details:

You need to go into control panel --> services
and stop the "AdminService for progress 9.0A".
At the same time go into startup and set the
startup type to manual, You need to "REBOOT"
your machine so it will not start
automatically.
----------------------

There are times when this does is not enough to get it to work and there are then three other ways to consider in order to solve the problem.

1. You can create a new user account, give this account full administrator privileges (the adminservice still need to be set to manual) reboot the machine, log on with the new user account and uninstall Progress.

2.It may be so that you have problem with your own domain, this you can test by see if you get the same results on a different machine. If you do you can use the regedt32 and delete PSC under HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE.

3. You may manually need to uninstall Progress. you may then use regedt32 and delete PSC under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE and under HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE. There are more entries in the registry, but where they are located depends on what license you are using, that is, a client networking license add different entries than an Enterprise license. Therefore, to remove the rest of the registry entries use the regedit tool and search for 90b, make sure it is Progress related and not related to some other program you have with version 90B. Then you go in to the directory where you have installed Progress and delete the whole Progress directory.

Then the problem of removing Progress should be removed.
