Network Travel for DB on UNIX & Application on NT
If a customer has an application on an NT server and the database
on a Unix server, the network travel is as follows:
If the client is running on Win95 or WinNT, the application will be
running on the client machine. The NT server is just a place to store
the code on disk. The code will be loaded from the NT server to the
client machine, then the rest of the processing is handled by the
client, (where the code runs) and the Unix server, ( where queries are
resolved and records sent/updated). The database requests do not go
through the NT server under normal circumstances.
