GOAL:
How to remove Internet Information Server (IIS) 4.0 and reinstall IIS 3.0
FACT(s) (Environment):
Webspeed 2.x
CAUSE:
WebSpeed products rely on a Web Server. Through Version 2.x of WebSpeed, the ISAPI Compliant Web Server tested by Progress is IIS 3.0. (IIS = Internet Information Server, from Microsoft.)
Progress did not test or certify IIS 4.0 because it was not available at the time WebSpeed 2.x was released. Use of IIS 4.0 with WebSpeed 2.x, consequently may cause unexpected results.
If you are encountering problems with WebSpeed 2.x and IIS 4.0, Progress Technical Support may ask you to test the problem on IIS 3.0. This process will help narrow down the problem area to either the IIS version OR WebSpeed.
FIX:
To remove Internet Information Server (IIS) 4.0 and reinstall
IIS 3.0, perform the following steps:
* Uninstall Microsoft Proxy Server version 2.0,
if it is installed on the computer.
* Uninstall the Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack (to do this,
run Setup and select Remove All).
* Install IIS 2.0 from the Windows NT Server 4.0 CD.
* Use the Windows NT Server 4.0 Service Pack 3 Update.exe utility
to remove all Service Pack 3 files and restore the original files
from the Service Pack 3 Uninstall directory.
* Reapply Windows NT Server 4.0 Service Pack 3.
This should upgrade IIS to version 3.0.
* Using Windows NT Server 4.0 Service Pack 3,
install Active Server Pages (ASP), Index Server, and Proxy Server.
