GOAL:

Is there any value in having after imaging enabled when AI files reside on the same disk as the database?

GOAL:

Why would you still enable after imaging with a single hard disk

FACT(s) (Environment):

All Supported Operating Systems
Progress/OpenEdge Product Family

FIX:

Yes there is still value in having After Imaging enabled even when using a single hard disk for all database files.

Although After Imaging will not provide protection from a hard disk failure if you lose all files, it will still provide recovery options in the case of adverse events that affect the data within the database. For example, if a user runs a job that deletes all the data from a table or a developer mistakes the production database for the development database and changes the schema.

In that instance, the database can be restored and the After Imaging files can be rolled forward to a point in time just prior to the adverse event.
