SYMPTOM(s):
OE Architect: Problems View 'Description Column' has redundant error (196) message.
** <program> Could not understand line <number>. (196)
** C:\OpenEdge\WRK101C\W907210154\.metadata\.plugins\com.openedge.pdt.text\custom.p Could not understand line 23. (196)
Since the grid already shows the line number under the Location column, error (196) message is redundant.
Since error (196) message provides no additional information, it uselessly clutters the Problems View and increases its 'noise' level.
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows
OpenEdge 10.1x
OpenEdge 10.2x
FIX:
This issue may be a good candidate for an enhancement request. Developers may use the Problems View filter button to, amongst other tasks, suppress the redundant error (196) message.
To suppress the above error from the Problems View:
1. Click the Filter Button (The three Arrows on top of the Problems View) to open the 'Filters' dialog
2. Select the 'On any element' radio button
3. Select 'doesn't contain' from the 'Description' combo box.
4. Type the string '(196)', without the single quotes, in the Description Fill-In.
5. Click the OK Button to close the 'Filters' dialog
