GOAL:
What does the message "64-bit dbkeys are enabled for database <name>. (13890)" mean?
GOAL:
Why is the message "64-bit dbkeys are enabled for database <name>. (13890)" only reported once?
GOAL:
Started a 10.1A database in 10.1C03 and received 13890 message once, but why is it not displayed more than once?
FACT(s) (Environment):
All Supported Operating Systems
OpenEdge 10.1B
OpenEdge 10.1C
OpenEdge 10.2x
OpenEdge Category: Database
FIX:
The message: 64-bit dbkeys are enabled for database <name>. (13890) is displayed in the database log file (dbname.lg) the first time the database is accessed using OpenEdge 10.1B or later client, server or utilities. This is because the 10.1B or later executables will check to see if 64-bit dbkeys have been enabled for the database or not upon opening of the database. If 64-bit dbkeys have not been enabled for the database, they will be implicitly enabled when opening the database for the first time and the (13890) message will be displayed.
To see if 64-bit dbkeys or what other new features have been enabled for a database you can use the command: proutil dbname -C describe.
Sample output from the describe option to proutil command:
