TOP TEN ODBC Dataserver questions to ask
Please ask these questions when triaging an ODBC Dataserver call. If
you are unsure whether or not this is an ODBC dataserver vs. ODBC
Driver issue, then please refer to entry 17041 for ideas on how to
determine which category this fall into. If you believe it is an
ODBC dataserver issue, then please ask the following questions:
1. What is the foreign database you are connecting to? (MS SQL Server,
Access, DB2 etc..) and what version is it?
2. What is your ODBC Dataserver serial number?
3. What ODBC driver are you using and what version is it?
4. How did you configure your data source--exact settings?
5. What error are you receiving or what problem are you having?
6. When exactly does it happen?
7. What version of Progress are you running? Any patches?
8. Is this a remote or a local connection?
9. What are the exact connection parameters you are using for both
the schema holder and the foreign db?
10. What platform is the client on? What platform is the server on?
