Apptivity 3.0 installation access violation error

If the Apptivity installation fails near at the end of the
installation procedure with :

An application error has occured and an application error log is being

generated

_INS5176._MP.exe

Exception access violation (0x0000005),Address: 0x00406e86

than the reason of the problem may be related to the limitation of the
command line length for a shortcut on NT 4.0. to 255 characters.
The default length of the command line for the Distribution Manager is
already about 196 characters. Since the length of the path appears 4
times inside the shortcut trying to extend the installation path
for 15 characters already hits the limit and gives the above error
while trying to install the Apptivity server product.
Installing the Apptivity client product using the same path length
works fine. For example installing the server on
c:\Programm Files\Apptivity30\Server
already hits the limit while using the default c:\ Apptivity30\Server

works fine. There exists also a hint inside the installation manual
page 2-4:
"Preparing for Installation":
The installation program can only handle path names of a certain
length.
If you are using a very long path name and have installation problems,
try using a shorter path name."

This kbase entry should help customers to determine the possible
length of the installation path more precisely.
