SYMPTOM(s):
.NET OpenClient displays error 7189, then crashes
Stream protocol error tag = . (7189)
Different error tags at different times.
Error tag 82 has been seen.
Error tag 114 has been seen.
Error 8085 found in AppServer broker log.
IOException received on client connection <threadName> : <IOException_string>. (8085)
Problem started appearing suddenly for no apparent reason.
Database, AppServer broker, and AppServer server logs all contain some unprintable characters.
Same symptoms when database restored from backup.
Same symptoms when AppServer moved to different machine.
FACT(s) (Environment):
Client program runs on Windows 2000.
AppServer and database run on Linux.
AppServer and database run on same server.
Server had recently been brought back into service after a period of disuse.
No errors when client connects to a different server.
Stateless AppServer
Windows Professional 2000
OpenEdge 10.0B
CAUSE:
Network card failure on server.
FIX:
Replace failing network card.
