SYMPTOM(s):
The SET statement fails with the UTF-8 client
The SET statement clears the underlying field buffer value if no value is entered.
FACT(s) (Environment):
Using an alternative input source than the keyboard, e.g. a file.
The issue only occurs with the UTF-8 client. It does not happen if the client uses a single byte code page, e.g. 1252.
