CHANGE:
Recently migrated to 10.1C0208
CAUSE:
The version file is missing a new line character at the end of the file. This was confirmed using od -a $DLC/version.
FIX:
Edit the $DLC/version file to include a newline character or carriage return at the end of the line that contains the version information.
