GOAL:
Is SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 certified?
GOAL:
Is Progress / OpenEdge certified on SuSe Enterprise Linux 11 ?
FACT(s) (Environment):
SuSE Linux
OpenEdge 10.1C
OpenEdge 10.2x
FIX:
SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 became commercially available circa. 24 March 2009.
Support has been added for SuSE Enterprise Server 11 with Progress OpenEdge versions 10.2A/10.1C but with one caveat as seen under note P in the Progress Availability Guide:
For all the SuSE 11 certifications both 32-Bit and 64-Bit, the ODBC drivers do not work on SuSE Enterprise Server 11.
To resolve the c++ lib issue, install the following compat lib:
ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/redhat/9/en/os/i386/RedHat/RPMS/compat-libstdc++-7.3-2.96.118.i386.rpm
Use the following command line to install:
rpm -Uvh compat-libstdc++-7.3-2.96.118.i386.rpm
Note:
This means that no SQL client can be run from the a SuSE 11 install of Progress unless you install the c++ compatibility library from the ftp site noted above. Whether the compatibility library is downloaded or not, a Progress SQL engine is installed and can be accessed from Progress SQL clients installed on other systems where the ODBC drivers do work.
