Status: Unverified
CAUSE:
Stored procedure features were unofficially implemented in version 8.3A for a special consulting project. In spite of this, no support was provided, as the functionality was never appropriately tested nor documented. Results cannot be guaranteed for those employing this feature in Progress ODBC DataServer V8.
With the release of version 9.0A, there were erroneous beliefs that stored procedures, were not supported for ODBC Personal DataServer, but were supported under ODBC Enterprise DataServer licenses.
Additionally, there is more evidence supporting ambiguous information regarding stored procedure functionality within specific ODBC DataServer licenses. The following paragraph has been taken from a white papers residing within our website; "What's New in Progress Version 9 DataServers"
Stored Procedure Support; "This feature provides the ability to call stored procedures in all certified data sources that support them. By supporting these stored procedures, ... This function is not available with the ODBC Personal DataServer."
CONCLUSION:
At this time, this is not the case, as there is no evidence supporting the theory of stored procedures not being available or supported within ODBC Personal DataServer licenses. Development is not aware of any intentional differences made between Personal ODBC and Enterprise ODBC DataServer licenses within 9.0A.
[As of, 09/25/01, white paper reflects misleading information and will
be updated.]
Presently, under 9.1X, stored procedures are fully supported for both,
Enterprise and Personal ODBC DataServer licenses.
FIX:
Upgrade. From 9.1X, stored procedures are fully supported for both, Enterprise and Personal ODBC DataServer licenses.
