GOAL:
Does OpenEdge Auditing record failed logins?
GOAL:
Can auditing record 4GL / ABL user logins and logouts?
FACT(s) (Environment):
All Supported Operating Systems
OpenEdge 10.1x
OpenEdge 10.2x
FIX:
The capability to monitor 4GL / ABL user logins and logouts is defined within the supplied policies.xml file shipped with the Progress / OpenEdge installation.
The location of the file is $DLC/auditing/policies.xml
The policies contained within this XML file must be active to monitor different aspects of auditing including user logins, logouts and failed login attempts.
The specific events are defined under the Audit Policy named PSC-User and the event IDs for standard connections are 10500; 10501.
IDs 10510; 10511 and 10512 are used when client-principal scenario is being used.
IDs 10520; 10521 and 10522 are used for SQL login, logout and failed login events.
