GOAL:
Can a OpenEdge 10.2x ODBC driver connect to an OpenEdge 10.1x database?
GOAL:
Can a OpenEdge 10.2A ODBC driver connect to an OpenEdge 10.1B database?
GOAL:
Can a OpenEdge 10.2x 64-bit ODBC driver connect to an OpenEdge 10.1x 32-bit database?
FACT(s) (Environment):
OpenEdge 10.1x
OpenEdge 10.2A
All Supported Operating Systems
FIX:
Yes, an OpenEdge 10.2x (32- or 64-bit) ODBC driver will connect to an OpenEdge 10.1x (32- or 64-bit) database.
OpenEdge SQL supports JDBC/ODBC clients that are one minor version higher than the database (where minor version is the number after the dot, i.e. 10.2A ).
The database server (_SQLSRV2) does not know whether a client is 32- or 64-bit so combining a 64-bit ODBC driver with a 32-bit database (or vice versa) should not cause issues.
