Status: Unverified
SYMPTOM(s):
Alert for Storage Area usage may have a different number from the area report
Very small areas with fewer blocks being monitored
Alert raised specifying a certain level of usage different from the value in the area report
FACT(s) (Environment):
Fathom Management 3.x
All Supported Operating Systems
CAUSE:
This is expected behavior because Storage Area Usage Report does a slightly different calculation from the Alert for Storage Area Usage. The alert takes in consideration the highest used block divided by the the amount of blocks, and the report adds to the total of blocks the number of extents. The difference only appears for really small areas, like control area that adding just 1 may give a different rate. It does not affect the big picture for data and index storage areas in the real world.
FIX:
To stop receiving the alerts, change the threshold of very small areas to 100% or do not monitor them.
