Report Engine give error Unable to connect to Database
This document applies to: Report Builder
Version and Release Number: 8.3, 9.x
INTRODUCTION
============
Some customers have been able to run the full report builder
from the network, but when they try to run the engine, get
get the following error:
Unable to connect to database. Database error is: Report Builder has detected that the SQL engine has shut down due to a database error. Please save your report exit and restart Report Builder.
SOLUTION
========
Some things to check if you get this error message:
* Make sure they have run NETSETUP on their client
* Check to make sure have a valid TEMP and working directory which users have write permissions to, and is not read only.
* Make sure you have run the "ini2reg.exe" on the client which is needed to put "progress.ini" in to the registry.
